I didnt’ think the quilts in this book were very “baby” like at all. I didn’t like the colors chosen for practically all the quilts, however, that is easy to change. The paper piecing is very fun, fast and easy to work with though. I did get a few ideas from this book but I don’t think I will be making any of these quilts for any babies.

The quilts in this book are just adorable! I’ve made the Just Ducky quilt, and it went together just as easily as all of Carol’s patterns do. Very cute!

This book is by renowned paper piecer Carol Doak. Her work and CD block collections are usually pretty great. I admit, though, I was disappointed in this book. Most of the projects were too fussy for my taste and too adult. The block which is supposed to be a duck. . . Looks like a swan. The block which has teddy bears doesn’t look so hot either. About the only quilt I liked was the hot air balloon. . . But I’m not running out to make it either.

Overall, this was an average book, but nothing really excited me.

These are small quilts and would be appropriate for wallhangings or quilts for children, not just babies. The designs are not simply baby themes. While there are trains and bears and ducks, there are also flowers and hot air balloons and a farm scene. In other words, pretty quilts! For the pieces to be used in paperpiecing, Carol has included a cutting chart (YES!!!) so that pieces can be pre-cut, and are ready to pick up and stitch to the paper. That’s my favorite part of this new book. Published by That Patchwork Place, it is of their usual good quality with clear pictures and good instructions. Super nice book!
