The “frilled quilt” you refer to is called Rag Quilts in most books.
Very easy, BUT, the special scissors sold to do the fringing will not dull. Unlike any other scissors you may use. Also you need to wash the finished quilt, after clipping, about 3 times in a commercial washer. Never, never wash these rag quilts in a home washer – you will seriously clog up your washing machine.
Have fun, sounds like you have 4 special teenagers to sew for.

http://www.quilterscache.com, this is an awasome site and they even have lessons you print off. Also if you are problems with a technique, you can e-mail Mama bear right on the wesite and she will try to help you out! I use this site for evrything! they have tons of patterns and they update every month!

my favorite site is http://quilterscache.com/
they use straight pins to tell you how difficult a pattern is – stick with the 1 yellow straight pin ones for easy ones.
